Historical: Running Jobs on Seaborg
Seaborg Decommissioned in January 2008

Introduction

NERSC's IBM SP RS/6000, named seaborg, has 380 SMP "compute" nodes with 16 processors per node for a total of 6,080 processors. Each node has a common pool of between 16 and 64 GBytes of memory.

The SP supports both interactive and batch processing. Interactive jobs are limited to 8 nodes and 30 minutes of wallclock time. Parallel programs can be run either using distributed memory message passing, shared memory threading, or some combination of the two.
