Account Usage
The Account Usage Summary shows MPP and HPSS usage by the user,
and user status for the PDSF.
Example Display
When your mouse is moved over a column heading, a brief
description is displayed.
Certain fields (such as Repo)
are also web links (usually displayed underlined and in a
contrasting color.)
For example, click on a repository name for
detailed information about that
repository.
The columns in the Account Usage Summary Are:
- Resrc
- Resource: HPSS, MPP, PDSF
- Repo
- The repository name. This is a link to information about the repository,
its associated project, and its users.
- The user's Login Name (username).
- Login Type
- Type of login name: standard, reserved, login to NIM only, etc.
- User Hrs Used
- SP Hours Used.
- User Charged
- User Charged is the product Hours Used
and the Priority Charge Factor (1.0 for regular,
2.0 for premium, 0.5 for low.) for this
login name. For HPSS User Charged means the SRUs charged by the
user to this repo,
- Avg CF (Average Charge Factor - MPP only)
- The ratio of Hours Charged to Hours Used. NERSC users are expected
to keep this ratio below a value of 1.2
- % Used (User Percent Used)
- The percentage of the repository's total allocation that has been charged
to this login name.
- % Allowed (User Percent Allowed)
- The percentage of the repository's allocation this login name is allowed to
use (also known as the User Quota).
- User Balance
- The MPP hours or SRUS remaining (balance) that this login name can
charge to this repository for this fiscal year.
- Base Repo? (MPP only)
- This is the user's "preferred" repo and is the user's default repo so long
as the user balance in this repo is positive. If the user balance is negative
and if the user has
other repos to charge to, then the user's current
default repo is (temporarily) set to a different repo. Should the user balance
(in the user's base repo)
become positive again, the user's default repo will be set back to the base
repo. See the Dflt Now? settings to determine the user's current
default repo.
- Dflt Now? (MPP only)
- If "Y," this repository will be charged by default when the
login name runs a compute job.
- Repo User Status
- The login status for this login name in this repository:
- Active
- The user is a member of the repo and has a positive user balance in that
repo.
- Restricted
- The user is a member of the repo but has a negative user balance in that
repo.
- Limited
- The user is no longer a member of the repo but still has limited access to
its resources.
- Deleted
- The user has been removed from this repo.
- Admin Member
- The user is an administrative member (PI, PI Proxy or Project Manager)
of the project who doesn't use this resource.
- SRU Files, SRU Space, SRU I/O (HPSS only)
- SRU Files + SRU Space + SRU I/O = SRUs Charged. These are year-to-date
totals. In the case of SRU Files and SRU Space, they are the sum of the daily
averages. For more information, see
NERSC HPSS Charging.
- Proj % (HPSS only)
- The percent of the user's total SRUs to charge to this repo. See
Apportioning User SRUs to
Repositories: Project Percents.
The columns in the Current HPSS Usage Are:
- The user's Login Name (username).
- HPSS Login Status - one of:
-
- Active
- The login name is in a normal active state with no restrictions. The login
name can read and write data.
- Restricted
- The login name is restricted because it has no repo to charge to. The
login name can read data from HPSS but cannot write to HPSS.
- Disabled
- The login name has been temporarily disabled.
- Limited
- The login name is restricted because the user is no longer a member of any
active repository.
The login name can read data from HPSS but cannot write to HPSS.
On HPSS a login name remains limited for about one year prior to being
deactivated.
- Deactivated
- The login name has been disabled and its HPSS files can be archived
to the "crypt". The login name
no longer has access to HPSS.
- Crypt
- The login name's files have been moved to the crypt and
may be deleted at any time. This has not yet been implemented.
- Deleted
- The login name has been removed from HPSS.
- Files
- The current total number of files stored in HPSS associated with this login.
- Space
- The current total amount of space used in HPSS associated with this login.
- Total I/O
- The total amount of I/O associated with this login that has been done year-to-date.
Logins by Host
Example Display
The columns in Login Names by Host are:
- UID
- The identification number for the user.
- Host
- The host (machine) name.
- The Login Name (username).
- Host User Status
- The status of the login name on this host:
- Active
- The login name is in a normal active state with no restrictions.
- Restricted
- The login name is restricted because it has no repo to charge to.
On compute systems restricted users are able to log in, but cannot submit batch jobs,
or run parallel jobs, or run lengthly interactive programs.
For HPSS restricted users are able to read data from HPSS but cannot write any
data to HPSS.
- Disabled
- The login name has been disabled (the user cannot login or connect).
The most common reason for this is lack
of a signed User Policy Form.
- Limited
- The login name is restricted because the user is no longer a member of any
active repository. On compute systems the user will be in a restricted status for one
month, during which time they should delete files that are no longer needed
and move needed files to their home system or to an active area of HPSS.
After one month the user's login name will be disabled on the compute system.
For HPSS the user will remain restricted for a year, during which time
they can read data from HPSS but cannot write to HPSS. After one year the HPSS
login name will be disabled.
- Deactivated
- The login name has been disabled because the user is no longer active at
NERSC.
- Archived (MPP only)
- The login name's files have been archived to HPSS.
- Crypt (HPSS only)
- The login name's HPSS files have been moved to an area called "the crypt"
and
may be deleted at any time. This has not yet been implemented.
- Deleted
- The login name has been removed from the system.
- Default Filegrp
- The default filegroup.
- Base Repo (MPP only)
- The repo the user has selected to be their default repo for charging
purposes: if the user does not specify a repo to charge to, this is the one
that will normally be used. However, if the user has run out of time in this
repo, a different repo (where the user has time) may be the current default.
Note that this column does not apply to HPSS or PDSF login names.
- Default Now (MPP only)
- The current default repository for charging purposes. Generally, this is
the same as the Base Repo unless the user has run out of time in their Base
Repo. In all cases, this is the repo that is used by default for charging
purposes (when the user does not specify a specific repo for the compute job).
Note that this column does not apply to HPSS or PDSF login names.
