Dear seaborg users, The IMSL mathematical library from Visual Numerics will no longer be available on seaborg from April 1, 2007. Seaborg IMSL users may wish to consider the following two options before that date: (1) Migrate IMSL codes to jacquard. IMSL is expected to be available on jacquard for the foreseeable service life of the system. Will this makes IMSL available to seaborg IMSL users, it does involve a migration to a new user environment (Linux rather than IBM's AIX) and compiler suite (Pathscale rather than IBM's XL compilers). For information on jacquard, please see: http://www.nersc.gov/nusers/resources/jacquard/seaborgians.php http://www.nersc.gov/nusers/resources/jacquard/ (2) Modify IMSL codes to use another mathematics library on seaborg. NAG and IBM's ESSL libraries are two substantial mathematical libraries available expected to be available on seaborg for the remaining service life of the system. There are also a number of other mathematical libraries commonly used by the scientific community, such as FFTW, ScaLAPACK, PETSc, etc. For information on alternative mathematical libraries, please see: http://www.nersc.gov/nusers/resources/SP/software/#mathlibs If you experience difficulties moving your IMSL code to jacquard or modifying your code to use a different library on seaborg, please contact the NERSC Consultants by sending email to consult_at_nersc_dot_gov Best regards, Frank Hale NERSC User Services
