Dear NERSC SP users, On Thursday, October 5, NERSC discovered a security incident on Seaborg. As a result, we have decided the safest course forward is to "rebuild" Seaborg; that is, we will be re-installing a "clean" version of all the software across the entire machine. This will be a major maintenance event. The immediate user impact is that Seaborg will remain unavailable for about a week. Most jobs that were running Thursday were allowed to complete. If those jobs wrote output to NGF you can access the files from Bassi, Jacquard or DaVinci. Unfortunately, all pending (queued) LoadLeveler jobs are lost and should be resubmitted when Seaborg returns to service. Bassi, Jacquard and DaVinci are available. If you need assistance using these platforms, please contact the consultants at consult_at_nersc_dot_gov. Sincerely, -- Francesca Verdier email: fverdier_at_lbl_dot_gov Associate Manager, NERSC Services phone: 510-486-7193
