    Greetings NERSC SP User,

On Monday, August 15, NERSC will be taking Seaborg down for a major system
software upgrade.  The system will be taken down at 14:00 Pacific Time on
Monday afternoon, and is expected to return to service by 10:00 Tuesday
morning.

Because this upgrade includes significant changes to runtime libraries,
it will not be possible to checkpoint and restart the production workload.
Therefore we will begin draining the LoadLeveler batch classes beginning
at 06:00 Monday morning.  During this time, only jobs submitted to the
"backfill" class will be allowed to start.  Any jobs still running at
14:00 will be killed.
