Greetings NERSC SP User, Seaborg will be going down tomorrow (Wednesday, January 26) at 16:00 PST until Thursday, January 27, 04:00 PST. During this time, users' home directories will be moved to a new file system. In preparation for this downtime, NERSC will begin draining the LoadLeveler production classes beginning at 04:00 PST Wednesday morning. For the following 12 hours (04:00 until 16:00), no new jobs will be allowed to start from any of the production classes. Note that this does not affect interactive or debug jobs. Any jobs still running at 16:00 will be terminated. During this 12-hour draining period, only jobs submitted to the "backfill" class will be allowed to start: #@class=backfill This class can accomodate jobs sizes up to 299 nodes (4784 processers) and run times up to 4 wall-clock hours. Users should see good turnaround using this class. For more information about NERSC's SP batch policies, please see: http://www.nersc.gov/nusers/resources/SP/running_jobs/classes.php Note that the above document states that the draining period is 8 hours; for tomorrow's downtime, we will be draining for 12 hours. -- Best regards, David Turner User Services Group email: dpturner_at_lbl_dot_gov NERSC Division phone: (510) 486-4027 Lawrence Berkeley Lab fax: (510) 486-4316
