Dear NERSC SP users, As many of you know, some Seaborg jobs have been experiencing wait times in excess of two weeks in the last two months. NERSC's goal is to quickly reduce the longest wait time to less than 2 weeks; once that is accomplished we will assess what might be done to bring the longest wait times to less than one week. The following changes have been made to the LoadLeveler settings to help us achieve these goals: (1) The number of jobs that any user can have running simultaneously was reduced from 6 to 5. (2) The number of jobs that any user can have in idle state (waiting to run) was reduced from 10 to 5. Jobs submitted beyond the number permitted for the running and idle states are consided as "not queued". (3) Priority boosted jobs submitted to the regular class will no longer be able to preempt premium jobs requesting 32 or more nodes. We will continue to monitor queue wait times and will consider further adjustments. Sincerely, -- Francesca Verdier email: fverdier_at_lbl_dot_gov Group Lead, NERSC User Services phone: 510-486-7193
