Dear NERSC SP users,

Now that all NERSC users have moved from the Cray systems to
the SP (seaborg), I would like to remind you of a few essential Web
pages for SP users:

- The primary NERSC SP page, http://hpcf.nersc.gov/
which provides the general introduction and overview of the system,
including the hardware and the AIX Unix environment.

- The xlf Fortran compiler page,
  http://hpcf.nersc.gov/software/ibm/xlf.html
with a good overview of the compiler, environment and compiler options.
This page includes links to pages discussion porting codes from Cray
to IBM, and also IBM memory management issues.

- The "running jobs" page, http://hpcf.nersc.gov/running_jobs/ibm/
with an overview of how to run interactive and batch jobs using
LoadLeveler. This page includes a link to a discussion of
the differences between Cray NQE/NQS and IBM LoadLeveler.

- The file storage page, http://hpcf.nersc.gov/storage/ibm/
Please be aware that you should use $SCRATCH for your temporary
storage. Do not use /tmp or /var/tmp as you did on the Crays.

- The software page, http://hpcf.nersc.gov/software/ibm/
full of links to all software products available on the SP.

NERSC is also offering a full day of training on the IBM SP
on October 10. Please see
http://hpcf.nersc.gov/training/classes/2002/Oct10.Day.html
for more information.

Best regards,

Frank Hale
