    Dear NERSC users,
 
HDF 4.2r0 has been installed on the IBM SP, and the
Visualization Server. This release of the HDF4 library
includes SZIP compression support, several bug fixes
and new utilities viz: hrepack, hdiff, hdfimport, h4cc
and  h4fc. Please note "fp2hdf" utility has been removed
from  this version and replaced by "hdfimport".

To access the new version, use: "module load hdf/4.2r0".
 
IBM SP users: please note,both 32-bit and 64-bit address
space libraries are available. To access 64-bit version
on the IBM SP, use: "module load hdf_64/4.2r0".
 
Unless problems are found, this version will become the
default  on January 27, 2004.  The current version, 4.1r5
will be disabled on February 10, 2004 and deleted soon
thereafter.
