Dear NERSC User,

NERSC User Services group is planning user training lectures for this
December and spring of 2001. We plan to offer lectures at the beginning
and intermediate levels of depth in such areas as Batch and Shell
Scripting, Programming with the MPI Library, Programmimg with OpenMP,
Code Optimization for the NERSC Platforms, and Performance Tuning and
Monitoring Tools Available at NERSC. Announcements for these lectures
will be forthcoming, as our planning solidifies.

In addition, we'd welcome your suggestions: Is there a particular topic
you'd like us cover in a short (60 to 120 minutes) lecture, or a longer
(3 to 5 hours) class? Please let us know by emailing your ideas to
training_at_nersc_dot_gov.

We generally present short lectures as conference telephone calls, with
presentation materials available on the NERSC Web Server. Longer classes
can be video-cast via the ESNet Video Conferencing Service; all ESNet
and ESNET Partner sites have facilities for video-conference participation.
We can also video-tape longer classes, and present the digitized video on
our web server.

Our class offerings are for your benefit, and we can adapt them to your
needs.

We'd be glad to hear from you on these matters.
