NERSC is enhancing the way it makes announcements to its users. Users can
choose to subscribe to any or all of seven new email lists that will provide more
detailed information for those who are interested.
All notices and announcements sent to these new lists, as well as messages posted to
five existing email lists, will be archived on the World Wide Web at the URL:
http://hpcf.nersc.gov/news/announcements/
The new email lists are:
announcements: General announcements: special workshops, training
events, NUG meetings, allocations, etc. Note that the most important
announcements are sent to the users email list.
status: All "down" and "back up" announcements; all regularly scheduled
downs that aren't taken. Includes HPSS, SP, T3E, PVP, Escher, Newton, and
network downs that effect access to these machines. Note that all major
downs are sent to the users email list.
sp-updates: SP software and configuration changes. Note that
announcements of major importance to all SP users are sent to the sp-users
email list, which contains all active SP users.
t3e-updates: Cray T3E software and configuration changes. Note that
announcements of major importance to all T3E users are sent to the
t3e-users email list, which contains all active T3E users.
pvp-updates: Cray PVP (J90/SV1) software and configuration changes.
Note that announcements of major importance to all PVP users are sent to
the pvp-users email list, which contains all active PVP users.
storage-updates: HPSS software and configuration changes. Note that
announcements of major importance to all HPSS users are sent to the
storage-users email list, which contains all active HPSS users.
server-updates: All Math server (Newton) and Visualization server
(Escher) announcements, software, and configuration changes.
The following email lists will be used, as in the past, to notify
users of major announcements: users, sp-users, t3e-users, pvp-users,
and storage-users.
NERSC users can subscribe or unsubscribe to any of the new email lists
via a web form located at the URL:
http://hpcf.nersc.gov/news/announcements/subscribe.html
NERSC will no longer maintain the "Changes" web pages. See
http://hpcf.nersc.gov/news/announcements/old-announcements.html
for announcements made prior to August 1, 2000.
