Dear Franklin users, Franklin quad core upgrade phase 2b is scheduled to start on Thursday, August 21, at 7am PDT. The scheduled system maintenance is expected to finish at 1pm PDT. Five columns of the dual core nodes from Franklin will be taken away for the physical upgrade work. The production system that comes up after the maintenance will have 9 columns of dual core nodes and 3 columns of quad core nodes. There are no major differences between phase 2a and phase 2b, except Franklin will have 2,880 fewer dual core nodes. Please refer to the detailed information along with the user environment changes and usage guide for phase 2 at: https://www.nersc.gov/nusers/systems/franklin/quadcore_upgrade.php#phase2 . The Message Passing Toolkit module version xt-mpt/3.0.2 will be set to the default version at the maintenance on Thursday. Users are encouraged to tune (or remove) the special MPICH environment variable settings used with the current default xt-mpt/2.0.53b version. To test it now, issue command "module swap xt-mpt/2.0.53b xt-mpt/3.0.2" and then recompile your codes. Best Regards, Helen He NERSC User Services _______________________________________________ franklin-users mailing list franklin-users@nersc.gov
